Can only download files when Symantec Client Firewall is turned off

Asked by shugarhol1c

I could not download files for a while. I could search for files, but whenever I tried downloading, it said, "Connecting..." then eventually Connection timed out. I tried turning off my Symantec Client Firewall, and the downloads immediately went through after I did. How do I configure the firewall so that it will allow for DC++ downloading?

Your anti-virus Symantec Client Firewall should be enabled because that software will protect you from viruses & hackers. Have the allow rule for Symantec enabled: TCP 2869 & UDP 1900. You need to disable Windows Firewall so you can be able to connect to active/passive users. What is your OS, as in XP or Vista? What DC++ version are you using?

I just entered those in, and it still did not work. I could only download when the firewall is off. My windows firewall is off. I am using XP. DC++ version is 1.2.0.1. The reason why I am using the old one is that when I downloaded the new version, I could not connect to my Dtella network at all(berkeley). What else should I do now?

Wups, I meant that my dtella version is old. I am using Dtella 1.2.0.1. My DC++ version is 0.7091(i think that is the version). Sorry for the confusion. When i downloaded the new dtella version for my berkeley network, it would not work, so I am using an old dtella. as far as I know I am updated on my dc++

Here's the link where you can find the diagrams & graphics: http://www.dslreports.com/faq/dc?text=1

Create an allow rule for DC++ on Symantec Client Firewall formerly known as Norton Anti-Virus & System Firewall.

Can you help with this problem?
