nickname already taken (a lot of times, but not always, and even with the strangest names)

Asked by basdewolf

Sometimes when I start DC++ I get this message when connecting to a a hub:

[19:41] *** Aan het verbinden met surfnet.fasthub.nl:1418...
[19:41] *** Verbonden
[19:41] <DCH++> This hub is running DCH++ v0.33-Release (Plugin API v0.33) on Linux 2.6.26-1-vserver-amd64 (x86_64)
[19:41] <DCH++> Your nick is already taken, please select another one
[19:41] *** Verbinding verbroken

While most of the time there is no problem (even with the same nicknames). And after I change my nick to some random name I know nobody uses, I still get the same message. And when I try to connect again, after a couple of hours or the next day, there is no problem (and sometimes I still get the same message).

Do you know what could be causing this? I tried searching the internet for people who have the same problem, but I couldn't find anyone.

Greets,

Bas

DCH++ (the program used to host the hub) is old/abandoned, so such problems aren't really surprising. it is now ADCH++ <http://adchpp.sourceforge.net/>.

Can you help with this problem?
