Extreamly slow dowloads whit Vista64 + 0.707

Asked by Tette

After upgrading to an new computer with Vista64 my download speed has dropped to almost zero.
the old PC managed to download up to 11-12MB/s total, aprox. 1,5-2,5 MB/s per slot downloaded.
The new pc only manage to get 50B/S, yes 50 Bytes/s per slot... sometimes i get up to 100Kb. but that is very rare.
I am using the same ISP + Router(port mapped), same Firewall(built in windows). and tried disabling it.

I tried installing a new copy of DC in vista. whit administrator rights. same same...
if i start the old pc it still manages 11-12megs. SO it is not a ISP related issue.

downloading i firefox and ie works like before. uTorrent also works fine. But i like DC++...
I am using a 100Mbit internet connection(93Mbit down... Ca 40Mbit up controlled whit www.bredbandskollen.se)

Can you help me?

sorry for all the spelling errors

it could be Vista's QoS going bad and trying to limit DC++'s packets, try disabling it (there should be a check-box for it in the connection properties of your Internet connection).

speeds can vary a lot depending on various random factors. in particular, you'll need a slot on a user that has a good upload speed with you. maybe sometimes you start DC++ and it downloads from slow users instead of faster ones?

i doubt that starting from the shortcut instead of the exe can change anything in this matter, it must have been coincidental.

check out the FAQ called "Why am I getting slow download speeds?" in the DC++ help file, it has many pointers.

I have solved it, vista does some auto tuning on window-sizes in the tcp-protocol. This makes my D-link Gaming lunge router go mad. I disabled it an now i works like a charm!
