Can search, Can't download. Going on for years!

Asked by drjay

Hey. I really hope someone can help me with this, I have been struggling for literally years with it. I know my way around a computer very well, but this one has me stumped.

I am behind two routers (1 dsl) and at one point had port fowarding setup. Here's the kicker: I have 4 computers but only one runs SP1 and is really old. If I portfoward or DMZ that one I can search and download perfectly fine. However, if I forward to ANY of the other computers they can all search in active mode fine, but all of the downloads timeout.

First thing of course is the firewall. I shut down the service and uTorrent seems to be satisfied with that. It says any given port is open and all my downloads run fine. It's ONLY dc++ that is troubling me.

I have my external IP put in BOTH boxes next to Active, and set to active. (Again, it all works perfectly on the old computer)

Not sure what info you need. Ring a bell for anyone?

"I have my external IP put in BOTH boxes next to Active" what boxes?
If your active searches work fine and your downloads timeout then perhaps you forwarded the UDP port correctly ( searches are done via UDP ) and the TCP and/or TLS port not right.

Can you help with this problem?
