Asked by Ruuk

Hello!

At first i would like to say thanks for this fine app!

but i noticed a problem. I know that someone wants to connect to me. But it doesnt work until in guarantee him one extra-slot?! he told me if i wont give him an extra-slot he get the message "Connection Timeout".
I don't know Why?! What is the problem? Why i have to give him an extra-slot? only when he has an extra-slot he can connect to me although i have 20 Slots free?!

Can you help me with solving this problem?

Best Regards, Ruuk!

An idea : make him check his download limits settings (Settings/Downloads/Limits box) to see if one or both of the limiting possibilities are set.

ok, but i think that it isn't the resolution. Every Friend in my small network told me that they have the settings:
Maximum simultaneous downloads: 15 (should be enough)
no news downloads if speed exceeds: 0

Any other Ideas?

slots are totally unrelated with messages like "Connection Timeout"; that message indicates that the connection couldn't be established, and has nothing to do with the number of slots you have opened.

if the connection does establish, and you don't have any free slot, your DC++ will send a "No slots available" error message.

here, there is a connection problem between you and your peer; if you can get his file list but he can't get yours, then the problem is on his side.

Ok Thanks for help!

Now i should inderstand the Situation. But what do you think he has to do to solve the problem? His computer is behind a router, this cause maybe the trouble. but he forwarded two Ports (one for UDP and TCP an one for TLS). So i dont know where to start to solve the problem.

Greetings, Ruuk

- if he can't download from anyone, then he can try to connect in passive mode, check for possible firewalls, and follow guides like <https://answers.launchpad.net/dcplusplus/+faq/154>.

- if he can download from other people but you are the only one he can't download from, then you may want to check whether you have a firewall blocking connections from him (or him from you).
