in v.698 how to disable multiple downloads from same user across multiple hubs (uses unnecessary slots without any augementation in bandwidth)

Asked by eidas

In v.698 how can I disable simultaneous downloads from the same user across multiple hubs. All this seems to do is eat up the uploader's slots and reduce each slot's bandwidth accordingly. Is this related to segmented downloading or am I mistaken? Thanks

ADC hub, user with the same: nick, file share, & IP has same CID (Client Identification) which remain unchanged.

NMDC hub, user with the same: nick, share & IP has different CID.

I'm not sure this answers my problem. ADC is DC++ protocol right as opposed to NMDC which was the old direct connect. So be it with v674 (in which I never experienced this issue) or v698 (in which I do) the unique client I.D. should point to a single connection and NOT the possibility of simultaneous downloads. Thanks for your answer Twilight anyway.

A couple of observations that may also help clarify issue. When disconnecting one of two downloading hubs from said user, the remaining hub will seem to disconnect (or drop bandwidth) immediately before reconnecting once again. Also, the files being downloaded were all selected within a single folder and not as individual units.

This is a NMDC protocol flaw, because clients aren't globally identified, it's possible that the same user downloads from you on 2 different hubs. ADC protocol doesn't allow that.
The main idea is, there is nothing you can do about it, just perhaps close the other hubs that user is also in...
This issue is present in all direct connect clients on nmdc hubs
