problem after connecting to hubs

Asked by dvieb

hi all.

i have zero understanding in all internet stuff so please be patinet with me :).my problem is ithis, i have the newest version of dc++.
every time i connect to the hubs, i either get to the point of the hub saying i connected but i dont see any user list and nothing comes up after the message that i am connected to the hub, on the few occasions that i do get the user list it keeps disconnecting me from the hubs.
i do not have a firewall or a router and i use windows xp, in the settings i use direct connect.
please help me, as things stand now i can't use dc++.

tx in advance for any help.

If following the faq below you are really sure that you don't have any firewall then 1. your provider firewalls your connection, 2. your provider blocking DC++ (or maybe other p2p) access 3. you have other unusual problem (viruses, etc...). Switch your hublist to adchublist.com and try to connect to some hubs listed there. If they work then its probably the 2nd case.
eMTee suggests this article as an answer to your question:
FAQ #103: “My DC++ is probably blocked by a firewall. How can I unblock?”.

hi eMTee.

i connected to some of the hubs you mentioned, ill let it run for a day and see if i have the same problem with them or not.
if i wont have a problem does that mean the my provider is blocking access and theres nothing i can do about it?

This is some kind of network problem because if you are able to get hublists, you should be able to connect to hubs and chat as well. Ask your provider if they do any throttling of p2p.
I leave this open so may someone come up with more ideas....

Perhaps you have a very low connection speed ? Try connecting to some local hubs and/or hubs from your country...

Did you added DC++ as an exception for the IMON part of NOD32? Have you tried with IMON disabled?

Refer to its manual, google it, etc... it shouldn't be so difficult. If I remember correctly disabling components such as IMON is pretty easy in NOD's interface...

hi eMTee.

i have the newest edition of nod32 and i don't think it has the imon part anymore, atleast as far as i can see and it has no mention in the documentation. anyway i tried to run dc++ with the antivirus disabled and it still has the problem :(
