Virus Scan Incoming Files Automatically?

Asked by Willson

Wouldn't it be great to have an option in the Settings to make DC++ automatically virus scan downloads upon completion? You supply DC++ with the path to your virus scanner (for example "%programfiles%\F-Secure\Anti-Virus\fsav.exe" if you use F-Secure) in a textbox. There should also be a checkbox .

It could look something like this: http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/2488/scanjt2.png

There could be exceptions and all that as well in the future, but the basic functionality would be great to have asap (next release) if possible.

Thanks!

The idea is OK but you can do this using the shell menu of the finished downloads. Usually all virus scanner has shell integrated scan command which you can use from the Finished Downloads window if the shell menus are enabled in the settings.

While that is possible, it's not nearly as convenient. The point would be to have this done automatically in the background (so downloads would become "fire and forget").

Sorry for the spam, just wanted to thank for the quick response as well. (There should be an edit button!)

And what do you do when you get the warning when you are not in your computer? You can miss it easily...

Anyway I tried to answer you with a solution currently possible atm, you can file a bug report marked as Wishlist so your recommendation would be considered by the key developers, but personally I don't believe we will have this feature in DC++ in the near future...

(And the we miss the Edit button here, too. As like DC++, Launchpad is also made by volunteers for free so we also can't demand from them anything - just ask maybe...)

i've seen that option in other P2P apps and wouldn't mind having it in DC++. the default action for infected files could be to quarantine them, most AV's allow that...

as eMTee suggested, use the "Create bug report" link if you want your suggestion to be considered more closely.

Can you help with this problem?
