TLS without ADC hubs

I'm using my own hub software based on pydchub. Is it possible to use TLS encryption with standard DC protocol, if I add TLS support to my hub software, or is TLS only possible when connected to an ADC hub?

There seems to be a client now StrongDC 2.21 that is capable of using TLS in a normall nmdc hub without any changes to hub soft, offcourse both party's will need this mod to make it work :)
