DC++(0.705) Crashes ("Not Responding") whenever I open "Download Queue"!!!

Asked by Wren

The prog. works totally fine except when I try to open "download Queue". The Queue.xml file appears undamaged (opens fine in Notepad, IE7 & Dreamweaver). However it is Very Big - 14.5Mb. Is there an inherent file size limit to the inbuilt viewer in DC++????
(like older versions of notepad which would hang if the file was too big.).

Try with 0.706 and see if it happens again ( something was fixed around that part).

OK, just installed 0.706 - Same problem :-(

Any more ideas??

Can I reconstruct the download queue somehow (just to be sure)???

You had very many downloads in the queue ? That could be a reason for such a big file. You could try waiting more to see if DC++ responds again. Also, except for the queue fact, do the downloads you know are in there work fine?
Second solution, there could be a corruption or something happened to the download queue, in which case you can try deleting it ( DC++ will create empty one) , but this means you lose all downloads still in queue.

Yeah, have checked the queue.xml file - it's uncorrupt, and is working fine (downloads are working fine and the file size is shrinking as files are being downloaded), except when I try to view it. Unfortunately, I can't (don't want to) delete the queue, as its halfway through down loading 2 HUGE directories with tens of thousands of files.

I have come to the conclusion it is a size problem, and will reply to this post when I have the filesize at which it opened.

Because you have two "huge" directories with tens of thousands of files it's normal to have a very big queue. As a result, it may take a while to open up the download queue. Since the downloads are working fine, I guess this is the only problem.

if you can get a Queue.xml too big that consistently prevents the download queue window from opening, it would be interesting you post it somewhere (like on <www.sendspace.com>) so the problem can be analyzed.
