A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

Asked by FOSHO

I can't get in my hub. Others can, but not me. It was working 2 days ago until it started showing the error. I was actually connected, then disconnected, then no matter how many times I try, it won't let me in. What could be wrong? How can I fix it?

Can you connect to other public hubs?

I don't want to try because I'm on a university network. I hear a lot of people getting in trouble doing so.

i'm trying to connect to rockinblues.servebeer.com1711 and this is the message i keep getting...

A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

i tried other hubs and it seems like i can connect to most of them - can't figure this out - it was working fine this morning and as far as i know nothing on my 'puter has changed - could it be as simple as the server for rockinblues is down temporarily?

MisterBister, yes, most likely that hub is down.

I have been trying to connect and i can't connect to not even a single hub, i keep on getting the same message, "A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond." I can't figure out what the problem is with my connection.

eMTee suggests this article as an answer to your question:
FAQ #103: “My DC++ is probably blocked by a firewall. How can I unblock?”.

I have checked my firewall settings and all other security setting including the anti virus security or safety settings, but still i can not connect to the hubs.

So you can download (refresh!) hublists and you get the latest version number properly as the recommended FAQ above says?

If so all I can think of is that you have issues with resolving hub adresses. Some providers (especially in Spain) block resolving dynamic DNS adresses such as no-ip.com, etc to avoid p2p usage...

Can you connect to hubs wich have no dynamic dns address (eg the DC++ development hub at adcs://devpublic.adcportal.com:16591 )
I also assume you use the latest version of DC++ which is 0.75 !

Can you help with this problem?
