connection failed

Asked by jbobll

Everytime i open DC++ it tries to connect, and then after 20 secs it says:

*** A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

Now i've looked at other questions and was told to allow DC++ thru my firewall, which i did. And i changed from passive connection to direct connection (not behind a router) and i left external IP blank like the FAQs say. However, i still can't connect. I'm afraid that changing the server name (that's what was told to people who use that hub) has something to do with it. Or maybe the hub is down, cuz a friend can't get his DC++ going for the same reason. If you have anything helpful to say that will assist me in this dilema, that would be wonderful!

Then the DNS of the hub might be outdated, the one running the hub might have changed IP and forgot to change the DNS of the hub to point to the right IP of him.
If you know the IP of the one running the hub you can try to connect to his/her IP:port instead of the DNS.
Like xx.xxx.xxx.xx:411 use 411 or 1411 if the DNS its self don't have a port number added last of it.

This happens to one sole hub or to all the hubs you try to connect to ?

Only one hub, but i only have connected to one hub. I think being on campus might not allow me to connect to other hubs, or i shouldn't connect to other hubs...

Maybe the hub is down then.
Try some more hubs... also try some adc hubs because campuses do traffic shaping sometimes...

Can you help with this problem?
