DC++ stops and disconnects internet after ~10 seconds

Asked by J

Happened with DC++ v.603, and also now v.705. DC is being used on a uni network for my college, and everyone else can connect fine, and also connect to the internet through the uni network. The idea is we can use DC to find most files that would otherwise use the (expensive) uni internet. After about 10 seconds of connection (during which time DC works, files dl, etc) downloads stop, connection usage stops (no more packets), and the internet becomes unavailable. Closing DC, disabling the connection, then enabling fixes everything, but it's very boring. Any ideas?

I have the same problem at home. Had no problems until after about 10 seconds then all downloads slow to a stop and hubs start being forcably closed. All port forwarding and firewalls ect ect all set right also check on other internet sites to see if port was accesable.

I also have exactly the same problem. Strangely, this doesn't happen every time, but in periods of at least 8 h. For example, one night everything may work fine, but the next morning the "halting syndrome" suddenly starts and remains during the day. Disabling and enabling the connection doesn't fix this problem for me, restarting DC only results in another 10 sec of working downloads. I've also noted that if I close the specific connection to a user associated with a halted download, the download will usually (not always) work again for another 10 sec (as soon as a connection to the same user has been established again), but I still eventually get disconnected from the hub(s).

My setup:
XP Pro
DC++ 0.706
ADSL (uses PPPoE)

My ISP imposes no download limits. All router settings etc are correct.

Ideas?

Forgot to mention: sometimes a halted download suddenly starts again and works at full speed for a few sec, then slows down rapidly until halted after another few sec. These "bursts" of normal download speed may come at any interval.

Same issue here. DC works fine, all my settings are correct but inevitably hubs will be forcibly closed and I lose my internet connection. I suspect it has something to do with my router. I recently changed routers. I never had this problem with my previous router.

Can you help with this problem?
