Download queue error (program hangs)

Asked by Palpie

I can run the application without any problems, until I open the download queue and everything freezes. I have tried to remove queue.xml without any luck. The strangest thing is that when I open queue.xml (100 bytes) in Notepad, it contains this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?>
<Downloads Version="0.698">
</Downloads>

But when I open the same file in Internet Explorer the XML for the whole download queue is shown.

Where can I find my download list?

It is likely that your queue file is damaged. Try to open it with other smarter text editors to see if something can be salvaged from it. If IE shows more than you pasted here its possible that the damaged file contains more data that a simple notepad can't/won't show. Running a HDD / filesystem checker software is also recommended.
Also be sure you are not sharing the queue or settings between more than one versions of DC++ (or any mods).

Your queue is the "queue.xml" file. It sounds strange that the file renders differently in Internet Explorer/Notepad, but I can't think of a reason that they would.

In any case, you should update your DC++ version, as it's difficult for us to give support for such an old version.

I'm using 0.699. It says say 0.698 in the file shown in Notepad, but correct in Internet Explorer.

I first thought it could be some strange cache problem in Internet Explorer, but it actually shows the correct value. The file in the filesystem is 100 B. But when I open it in Internet Explorer and save it to somewhere else, it is 6 MB.

It works when I try in version 0.704, but that version comes with some other problems so I'll wait for the stable on that one.

I'm guessing it is something as eMTee says. I will try a filesystem checker as soon as possible.

Well, unless you actually report which problems there are in 0.704, it's not going to get fixed (unless it is already).

I only mentioned 0.704 because the download list worked there and not in 0.699.

Everything works in 0.699 now. There were no filesystem errors. I had to wait for everything I had in the list to download. When it was empty it worked again.
