Port Forwarding New Router - Search but can't DL

There is an easy way to see if you forwarded your port correctly to your internal ip, and if its really accessible from the outside go to " http://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?rh1dkyd2 " and do there a custom probe for your specified TCP port and it will tell you if it can be rached or not :)

If not either you forwarded wrongly, or you specify the wrong ip in your dc settings or you have a firewall that you dont know about, cross finghers

There is a "bar" where you can fill in your portnumber, left under that you have a button " User specified custom probe" if you press that the port(s) that you filled in are tested and should give the status "open"

I believe it's the same as what you sent me? Anyway, it seems that the port I used for DC is blocked, or any port I typed in for that matter came up as blocked. I don't understand. I use my torrent client just fine when I port forwarded for it. I'm positive I put in the right external IP address in DC++. The only thing I can think of is maybe my router came with a firewall? I really have no idea, though since i'm so new to routers.

make sure you know your internal ip of your own pc, also verify that you dont use M$ Internet connection sharing by accident (maybe you used it before your router) if so disable it your router replaces it

I tried using that portforward.com I followed every step. Shared Internet Connection is not enabled. I guess I'm going to have to remain passive mode. I can't think of any other reasons why this isn't working...

strange , if you done all above correct it should work unless

If your browser uses a proxy server to connect to the web that page will give a wrong externall ip address, look in your routers WAN settings for the correct one

or

the internall ip you forward to is wrong , do "run" type cmd and enter that will bring up a dos box, type there " ipconfig " and enter , that should give you the correct ip to forward to...

and in some routers a port from a known service (predefined) is not working when you used it in a custom created service, try to use a port like 20443 or something ...

if all that doesnt help ... also lost lol :)

well under my WAN settings I have an option to 'Disable SPI firewall' I have no idea what this is, but I don't wanna go disabling if it;s important...any ideas here?

as for the internal IP, I was getting it right. I checked the with the Ipconfig command.

I'm about to go to bed, but if you have any more ideas (maybe that SPI firewall thing?) then, please!

Stateful Packet Inspection, you can try to disable it and see if thats the problem , it should be safe to do that for a test ... :)

ok. this is EXTREMELY odd. I didn't disable it. BECAUSE, I just opened DC++ to try for the 10th time. For some strange reason...it is working! I can search and now download in active mode. But I didn't change anything since I made this topic! I don't get it, but I'm not going to complain and hope it stays that way. Doesn't make sense to me.

Boggles my mind...just as I was about to disable that SPI thing. I'm thinking maybe the ports I was using were "busy"? or something...I have no idea. I wish I did so I could help others with the problem.

*sigh* apparently sometimes it wants to work and sometimes it just doesn't...so so weird.

Try restarting your router, i heard about some routers that sometimes made this kind of problems. ( This is really annoying since they had to restart their router 5 times a day.. )

I really hope I don't have to do that. I disabled SPI firewall, and so far it's doing the trick...but I'm still not positive that's the resolution.
