My searches come up, but the files won't download.

Asked by digitaleyes

After searching for a file, I cannot connect with the user to download the file. Always says "Connecting..." or "Connection timeout." I've tried many users and many searches and none of them are going through. My firewall is off, and my IP is right (otherwise the searches wouldn't appear.) Any known reasons for why this would happen?

You said your IP is right, so I assume you are using active ( in some form ). Searches are made via UDP so if they work , it means UDP does. However, if downloading is a problem, your TCP might have a problem, maybe if you got a router you need to open up some ports for listening ( TCP and TLS port in DC++ settings ).
See if those ports are allowed and post again

They are all allowed--I am on a new laptop and trying to get DC++ set up. That was the first thing I checked after knowing my IP was correct. I've had this work a million times on other computers earlier, but there is something DC++ doesn't like on my new laptop. Not really sure why it is giving me problems right now.
Any other way to fix it that you know of?

Problem solved--I have stupid McAfee with its own firewall still on on my laptop. I had turned off Windows firewall, but didn't even think to check for the other security programs installed on my computer. Thanks for your help though, guy.
