dc++ and vpn

Asked by jjj

Hi ive been having some problems trying to get dc++ to work in active mode though a vpn(cyberghost) it works without it but not with it enabled.I would get errors relating to unable to map ports aswell as very slow dl speeds.Ive ran the "upnp test program" and got this result with the vpn active:

TEST 1 - Operating System Support - PASSED
TEST 2 - SSDP Service Running Check - PASSED
TEST 3 - SSDP Service Automatic Check - PASSED
TEST 4 - UPnPHost Service Running Check - PASSED
TEST 5 - UPnPHost Service Automatic Check - PASSED
TEST 6 - UPnP Framework Firewall Exception Check - PASSED
TEST 7 - Adapter #0 - 10.129.xx.xxx - FAILED ->>>>this is the network adapter that cyberghost created and uses
TEST 8 - Get External IP Address - FAILED
TEST 7 - Adapter #1 - 192.168.x.xx - PASSED ->this is the network adapter that seems to always be used
TEST 8 - Get External IP Address (Result: 78.105.xx.xxx) - PASSED

So far ive tried to set the bind address to my vpn network adaptor ip(the ip from test7) and tried active mode with and without router option selected no luck.Tired enabling "let cd++ determine the best connectivity settings" but this still just gives the following errors:

Port mapping: Successfully removed port mappings from the "WANDevice" device with the MiniUPnP interface
Determining the best connectivity settings...
Local network with possible NAT detected, trying to map the ports...
Port mapping: Failed to initalize the MiniUPnP interface
Port mapping: Failed to map the Transfer port (1939 TCP) with the NAT-PMP interface
Port mapping: Failed to create port mappings
Active mode could not be achieved; a manual configuration is recommended for better connectivity

Some pointers would be great thx.

Some relevant quotes from the built-in Help :

----------------
Let DC++ determine the best connectivity settings
Select this to let DC++ determine the best connectivity settings on your behalf. This should work with the majority of network structures DC++ is generally used in. The success rate depends on operating system configuration and on the network topology.
Note that when this option is active, >manual connectivity settings will be ignored<.

It is recommended to disable this option and to manually set up connectivity settings when the network topology is not easy for DC++ to figure out, such as:
...
- In the presence of network tunneling, a VPN service or any other software that creates virtual network devices.
...
------------

So use the context sensitive Help and the FAQs provided with it to configure the connection manually. Most things you need are there. You probably need direct connection through the bound virtual network device, but it's up to your VPN provider/software...

Can you help with this problem?
