DC++ Massive CPU usage/freezes computer

Asked by Andrew L

Reformatted my laptop about a week ago. Just loaded up DC++ and logged onto my normal hub. Whenever I start to download one file my computer COMPLETELY freezes and only unfreezes for a short second before it freezes again.
I was looking at the DC++ threads in Process explorer.. but nothing was over %2.00... When in task manager
1 of my cores is pegged at 100%

Everything goes back to normal when I close DC++ or disconnect all downloads.
I have all my drivers updates (as on the HP website)
tried disabling AV (kaspersky)

i7 2670QM @ 2.20GHz
8GB RAM
Windows 7 x64
DC++ v0.802 (r3085)

Any ideas?
