cyrillic characters (cp1251) appearing as iso-8859

Asked by Gzorg Zero

Some (many) hubs use cyrillic, which is interpreted as iso-8859, though it should be interpreted as cp1251. Is there anything that can be done about this ? This happens on the chat conversations, file listing, and search results. For the moment, the only way of coping with this is copy/pasting to/from a text editor to change the encoding to something readable.

This is a deficiency of the old hubs using the NMDC protocol. You won't have such kind of problems in an ADC hub as they're using unicode for chat messages and everything else.
The only thing I can recommend you (above encouraging those hub owners to switch to ADC) to try some mods that still keep hacking NMDC and did some hacks regarding code pages to be used for certain hubs. StrongDC++ and its derivatives should have such function...
