Can't connect to other users on my hub when in Avtice modes.

Asked by Chris

Hello DC++ board members,

My configurations:
I am running the latest DC++ client on my home server. (0.770, r2176)
I am running the latest version of Ptokax on the same machine. (0.4.1.2)
I have a Linksys WRT120N wireless router.
I have Windows 7 Ultimate.
I have upnp enabled on the router.
I also have port forwarding enabled on the router.
I have the upnp and ssdp services running on the server.
I use a dyndns address and a port number for external connections.

My situation:
I can connect from the local machine and external users can connect as well, but I cannot download from them and they cannot download from me; however, they can download from each other.

Attempted resolutions:
I have tried to use the option in DC++ for upnp; however, when I connect it tells me, "Failed to create port mappings."

I have also tried to use the manual port forwarding settings, but I am disconnected from the hub with the following error: "Your client send incorrect IP [External IP] in connection request, your real IP is [Internal IP]."
I have tried with "Do not allow hub/upnp to override" enabled and disabled.

When using Passive mode, I can download from Active mode users, but not Passive.

Am I stuck?
I stay in Passive and make everyone else active, but limit my own capabilities.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks Lots,
Chris

This is a hub issue so you must ask this question in the PtokaX forums. It is a common problem so you may find the answer there even without asking. Basically you need to disable IP check for your account/profile in the hub software.

Hi eMTee,

I have tried several things, including modifying the setting to disable IP check for my profile.

Making that change does remove the message, but I am still unable to connect to other users while in Active Mode.

I only get connection timeouts. I've tried forcing the connections, with no positive results.

I also also was able to get upnp to work for about 10 seconds (ports correctly mapped), but no downloads were working. I reconnected to the server and received the message that ports were incorrectly mapped.

I'm stuck with being in Passive mode, I suppose.

Thanks for the help,
Chris

Well,

I just made the server the DMZ and all is working. I suppose I'd rather have full functionality than be behind the firewall. I have software firewalls running, so I should be alright now.

Thanks for the help,
Chris.
