Problem when using hub on both LAN and WAN

Asked by HakanJohansson32

I'm running ADCH++ on a computer in my network. The problem is if I connect (on the local LAN) I get an "internal" IP address, lets say 192.168.0.35, but if a friend connects over the internet he gets his external address. Since I have an internal address and he (obviously) got his external we cannot connect to each other. If I use my public IP address to connect to the hub my IP address in the hub is the same as the routers internal.

In my DC++ settings I've selected manual port forwarding and I've entered my public IP.

Is there any way I can make ADCH++ to use the IP I specified instead of my local? Cause the point of this hub (me and my friends to share stuff) is wasted if I can't share anything with them.

First, make sure you can download from each other in a public hub (your and your friend's client ports correctly forwarded) and make sure your friends can connect to your hub (so the hub port is correctly forwarded as well).
Then ensure you do not get your IP from your locally running hub. In DC++ connection settings put your current external IP to the External/WAN IP box and check 'Don't allow hub/UPnP to override'. After this it should work or something else (firewall?) causes your problem.

Thank you, I forgot to check the "Don't allow hub..."! Now it works great :)
