Old tabs showing on program start?

Asked by kimpilo

Whenever I start DC++ 0.762 it also opens tabs with old file lists, searches and PMs, despite the users being offline. Is this intended behavior? The older versions didn't do this and its annoying to have to close old tabs each time you start up. There doesn't seem to be any options for it.

So old tabs will ALWAYS display on program start?

Yes, they do. You can quick close them using the Window menu.

Its not a bug its the intended behavior, to continue where you stopped last time. Can you explain why is it bad for you?

Personally I leave the program running for a few days once I've queued up downloads. There's never any use for me to have old tabs pop up the next time I restart it. It would be nice to have a way to go back to the old behavior where it doesn't show old file lists, searches and chats. Usually the same people aren't even online when you get back on if you are on a big hub with lots of activity and you usually aren't interested in their file lists the next time around anyway.

It is bad for me because I MUST close any previously used tabs instead of closing the entire client.
Making old tabs restoring just to be optional will be much better.

This crap is REALLY bad for me, because I can simply no longer use Dc++... The program messes up and freezes every time I start it because of all the hubs it tries to connect to simultaneously. And it doesn't even matter if I manage to close a few tabs manually, they are back again the moment I reboot the program. Worst update ever...

If you normally close DC++ the closed tabs won't be reopened. It can happen only if DC++ crashes or something keeps the program from clean exit (so its unable to save settings).
For the rest you were answered in the other thread you opened. Please try to stick to that thread for your problem.

I found a work-around that makes using DC++ as easy as it used to be.

If you set your DC++ up to be the way you want (with the open windows you expect to open each time, as in autostarts, etc), then you can close the program. If you then go in and to your (for windows xp), documents and settings\<username>\Application Data\DC++ and write-protect DCPlusPlus.xml, it won't be able to remember the junk tabs anymore. The only drawback seem to be an inability to have a search-history, but I rather live without that than having the hassle each time you open/close the program.
