Asked by Davide Marchi

Hi Devs and thanks for your work!

I would like to know if with the latest release is it possible to customize plymouth boot logo (initrd), GDM graphic logo and desktop user background.

Thanks!

Davide

This has always been supported by Cubic.

The latest release is 2021.04-50, and I recommend you use that, since it will have all prior bug fixes.

Keep in mind, you will need to use the command-line and modify files to make the changes you want.

Look through some of the Answers (https://answers.launchpad.net/cubic) here to see how to make the changes you want.

Also, remember to update-initramfs when customizing Plymouth:

...and use update alternatives to set your plymouth theme as the default.

For example:

update-alternatives --install /usr/share/plymouth/themes/default.plymouth default.plymouth /usr/share/plymouth/themes/my_theme_directory/my_theme_name.plymouth 160"

If you are modifying GDM, you will need to extract, modify, and repackage /usr/share/gnome-shell/gnome-shell-theme.gresource.

There are some instructions out there you can follow; here is one I came across:

Thanks cubic-wizard fro your reply!
I know well what you suggest, but what I was wondering was if some sort of graphic or semi-graphic wizard had been added to automate the procedure.

Thanks!

Davide
