newly protected cookies not protected
I'm a long-time user, currently running Firefox 52.5.0 ESR on an XP machine with CookieKeeper v19.3.1.
For at least the past year, any cookies I try to protect from new domains are deleted when I close the browser. Sort of. Allow me to explain.
When I bookmark a new site, such as a bank, that requires persistent cookies, I set CookieKeeper to "Allow" the new domain so it gets added to the Permissions list. Then I open the Folder Tree and protect the cookies that I want to save, which adds them to the "Protections" list. However, when I close Firefox, the folder for the newly protected cookies is deleted.
Subsequent visits to the site will re-create the folder, and when a protected cookie is written, it appears with the LOCK icon, but this defeats the purpose / benefit of saving the cookie. Every time I close Firefox, the folder and cookies are deleted, even though the domain remains in the permissions list and the protected cookies are still listed in the Protections list. Strange.
As a result, I can only use the "stay signed on" feature for websites that were previously protected before this behavior started. I'm guessing it was triggered by a CK upgrade but since I rarely need to protect cookies from new sites, I didn't realize it was broken for many months.
Interestingly, I'm running Firefox version 55 with CookieKeeper on a Linux machine and it doesn't have this problem. In fact, with FF55, sites with protected cookies don't need to be first white-listed in the Permissions list. If this was a deliberate change to CK, it may be a clue to what's happening on my older XP machine.
