The files are /etc/freshclam.conf and /etc/clamd.conf. The notice isn't for Debian or Ubuntu users since they're already configured; Fedora's files are not pre-configured. So if you're using Ubuntu, don't worry about it.

Also, that means you're using a pretty old version of ClamTk. You should probably upgrade.

What Ubuntu are you running? Typically, you can just double-click it to install.

What version of ClamAV are you running? Open a terminal window and type "clamscan --version" (no quotes).

And finally, which dependencies is it referring to?

Thanks,

please how is the clam updated with root

You can update the signatures as root with "sudo freshclam -v".

Note that you don't need to use root to run ClamTk, though.

The libnet-dns-perl package should be available for you. Have you tried just double-clicking it? Maybe you have its repository disabled?

If you mean to update as a regular user, you can do one of two things:

1. delete your prefs file

( rm -f ~/.clamtk/prefs ) < -- copy and paste this into a terminal window

2. wait for 4.18, due out soon, which has an easy way to do that

hi dave
the 4,17 has been able to install after an update and the signature also seems to be updated from within the program. i think i will keep this one until further notice.
thank you.
