CalmTK calls file nc.jar a VIRUS

Asked by Sturdyhart

Hi,
I just installed ClamTK Ver 4.25 on my system (Ubuntu 10.04.3 LTS \n \l), and ran a recursive scan. It searched and found one file nc.jar and called it a VIRUS. It was located in the /home/rick/.icedteaplugin/cache/http/n1ews.hermison.com/nc.jar. directory
I'm not too sure what I should do with this file as it seems legit to me?
Can you help me to determine if I should throw it in the trash or not?

Thank you.
Rick

Hi,

You are correct - it could be legit. If you'd like another opinion, you can submit that file to

http://virusscan.jotti.org/ or http://www.virustotal.com .

Note that if you believe it to be a false positive, please submit it by clicking Ctrl-Y in ClamTk, and report it as a false positive.

I was unable to get a real jar file by visiting that site, so I cannot verify it or not for you.

Thanks,
Dave M
