2 Cinder-Volume Host, separate volume types

Asked by drolfe

HI,

I have two cinder-volume nodes in my Grizzly cloud. I'm wanting to use one for zone dc1 and the other for zone dc2 for example.

I've seen some details on the multi-backend support in Grizzly but this looks like multi-backends on the same volume node as below:

http://docs.openstack.org/trunk/openstack-block-storage/admin/content/multi_backend.html

How can I do this over two different cinder-volume nodes ?

multi-backend mode is used for the same cinder-volume service.
Multi cinder-volume configuration is not different with the only one. You just need to deploy cinder service on the second node and change the cinder.conf rightly.
cinder controller and one cinder-volume service on one node. And the other one just run cinder-volume service.
The cinder.conf of the node which is running cinder-volume only need the same queue and DB as the cinder controller node.
You can try it. It's not complicated.
