Installation on OS X 10.9.4

I am attempting to install Cheerp on OS X 10.9.4. The instructions say to put the package in the under the /opt directory. I don't have an /opt directory. Where should it go and should the installation pack / instructions be changed?

Just try to create the /opt folder if it is not already there with the following command

sudo mkdir /opt

and then retry the installation from the DMG.
