How to terminiate the CAT cammand

Hi,
I accidentally opened a gz file with CAT and now i am not able to terminate it..
Please help guys

pressing ctrl-c should help.

did not.. I have already tried ctrl+c
typed "reset ctrl-j"
nothing worked for me

Further suggestions:

Close the terminal window (and confirm to close it even if a process is still running in it).

Open another terminal window and kill the process.

Reboot the whole system.
