Port to Gnome Classic (Fallback)

Asked by Ikey Doherty

Are there any plans to port Cardapio to Gnome Classic/Fallback ?

The reasons I ask is because I have patched gnome-panel to work in the
traditional sense (in every way).

Creating the applet boilercode for the GTK3 gnome-panel isn't an issue, however it uses
GObject Introspection, which cannot be used in conjunction with the static PyGTK bindings.

My query is this, would someone be willing to help me port Cardapio to PyGI? We (SolusOS)
currently use Cardapio as our default menu and I believe it would give other developers the
encouragement to port to Gnome 3 Classic.

As you can, despite being early days, it already has Gnome 2 functionality again.

Nice! We have to port to PyGI / GTK3 at some point anyway, so this is very welcome.

I haven't looking into what it takes to port things over, though. Have you found any good docs online explaining how to transition?

(I have gone ahead and opened a but report about this. bug 1005259)
