Cardápio or Cardapio?

Asked by Jan on 2010-06-22

Is the application name written with acute accent on the »a« or not?

Sometimes it is (Launchpad project) and sometimes not (translation templates).

The official name has an accent, since that's the Portuguese spelling. But I decided to go against using it in the app to make it easier for people to write about it only (and to do web searches) without worrying.

I agree with making it easier for people. But then one spelling should be decided on, otherwise it will not really be easier.

Currently I am confused on how to translate it and forget it every time. Also, when people land on the Launchpad page after their search, they’ll likely be confused as well. ;)

Thanks tvst, that solved my question.

Ok, I officially changing the name to "Cardapio" without the accent. If you find any instance of the old name (with the accent), please let me know and I'll change it.

Good decision. :)

The only instance I found (that you can change) is at the team site: https://launchpad.net/~cardapio-team
I already changed the archive title at https://launchpad.net/~cardapio-team/+archive/unstable :)

Ok, and a few strings in the translation of Brazilian Portuguese. ;)
Double-checked the code, everything else is fine.

Thanks for fixing those. I have updated the cardapio-team name.
