How can i tell that the login.ubuntu.com username and password is no longer linked to the launchpad username and password?

The original announcement says: "... we have set both services to share account data during the transition. Launchpad is in the process of enabling users to log in with an Ubuntu account and, once completed, this sharing will be removed."

Changing this to 'Answered' (not 'Solved') in the hope that the lp janitor will leave it alone.
