Problem with n_calchep

Asked by Jorge Romao

Dear Alexander

Thanks for your answer. But I still think there is a problem. In fact if I "Make&Launch n_calchep" I get that message but "n_calchep" is created and runs with no problem.

However if instead of "Make&Launch _ncalchep" I just do "Make n_calchep" the windows opens but it crashes with

PROCESS: Z->2*x
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

(I was just doing the default process eE-> mM)

This did not happen in previous versions.

Best

Jorge

Dear Jorge,

thanks  we will check this and let you know.

You are working with SM, right?

Which operation system do you have?

Cheers,

Sasha

Yes with SM. I am teaching and I use CalcHEP in the class. It is very
useful, thanks for the good work.

Dear Sasha

Thanks for your email. However it did not solved the problem. I
downloaded version 3.8.5. I run e E -> m M. I got:

$ ./calchep
ar: creating ld1.a
ar: creating lib_0.a
results/n_calchep is generated
n_calchep is created
$
$ cd results/
$ ./n_calchep
PROCESS: Z->2*x
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

It is better than before. I got

PROCESS: Z->2*xSegmentation fault (core dumped)

when choosing  Make n_calchep. Now it crashes when I try to run inside
results

However choosing  Make&Launch n_calchep works fine (as before)

Best

Jorge

Two further questions:

1. Do you run this on Mac ?

2. Do you have problem if you run this
process using calchep_batch

I have checked that  all  3 ways to generate n_calchep

      Make&Launch n_calchep

     Make n_calchep

     C-compiler

create identical n_calchep files.  One can create n_calchep using one
way,  move it to work directory and after that generate another
n_calchep using another way.

diff n_calchep  results/n_calchep

shows nothing that tells us that the  files are identical.

So, the problem probably cause by the way how you launch  the program. I
thing if you call a  'working' n_calchep   directly from ./result it
also will crash.

If so. More likely your shell contains  variable  CALCHEP. ./calchep
and ./calchep_batch  overwrites  this variable in a proper way and
n_calchep works.   Otherwise ./n_calchep uses a wrong path which is not
active now.

Please check my  hypothesis.

n_calchep has to work properly  even if CALCHEP variable  is not
defined. It keeps a path to  mother code.  It checks  CALCHEP in
environment for the case of absence of   mother code.
