Cant use cteq6l1 with batch file.

Asked by Angel

HI,

I am trying to use calcHEP with cteq6l1 in batch mode, Cteq6l does not come by default with my version of calcHEP (3.4) so I got it from a webpage and I converted It to pdt format with cteq2pdt and put the file where the other pdfs are, pdTables, then I put:

pdf1: cteq6l1 (proton)
pdf2: cteq6l1 (proton)

in the batch file, but the program gives me:

Error in calculation of cross section for G,G->hh
 for run Mhh1000.
Please have a look at cs.o and cs.out in Processes/m4/unitary/p1/Mhh1000.
Killing all jobs and quitting.

And in cs.out:

ERROR in strfun
CH Error 2

I guess the new PDF is not recognized. Could you tell me how to make calcHEP recognize the new PDF please?

Thanks.

Hi Angel,

Can you use this pdf set in the gui (graphical user interface) mode? That is, if you open the numerical session in a window, can you use this pdf set? If you can, then try it in the batch interface without the ".pdt" part. Let us know if that solves the problem.

Best wishes,
Neil

Hi,

I can use the PDF from the GUI, it appears there. And I made a mistake the
last time I wrote, from the beginning I had written:

pdf1: cteq6l1 (proton)
pdf2: cteq6l1 (proton)

in the batch file, without the ".pdt". When using this file I keep getting
an error. The file is below

Model: SM_RS
Model changed: False
Gauge: Unitary

Process: p,p->hh
Decay: hh->W,W
Decay: W->q,q
Composite: p=u,U,d,D,G
Composite: q=u,U,d,D,s,S,c,C,b,B
Composite: W=W+,W-

pdf1: cteq6l1 (proton)
pdf2: cteq6l1 (proton)
p1: 4000
p2: 4000

Run parameter: Mhh
Run begin: 2000
Run step size: 300
Run n steps: 1

#Cut parameter: M(W,W)
#Cut invert: False
#Cut min: 100
#Cut max:

Kinematics : 12 -> 34
Kinematics : 34 -> 3 , 4

#Dist parameter: M(hh)
#Dist min: 100
#Dist max: 4000
#Dist n bins: 200
#Dist title: Graviton Mass
#Dist x-title: MG* (GeV)

Number of events (per run step): 10000
Filename: group.phys-gener.calcHEP.pp_hh_WW
NTuple: True
Cleanup: False

nSess_1: 5
nCalls_1: 100000
#nSess_2: 5
#nCalls_2: 100000

Thanks.

This syntax only works for the built in pdf's.

Please try:

pdf1: PDT:cteq6l1(proton)
pdf2: PDT:cteq6l1(proton)

Let me know if that works.

Cheers,
Neil

Hi Angel,

You are the first person to use the batch interface with a new pdt installation. Most people use LHAPDF now days. But, I am glad it worked.

Cheers,
Neil
