No cross sections calculated when 0 events are requested.

Asked by Jacob

Using the batch interface for CalcHEP I have found that none of the cross sections are calculated when I set "Number of events (per run step)" equal to 0. The "sigma (fb)" column in the "numerical.txt" file is left blank.

However, when the "Number of events (per run step)" is any non-zero value, using the same batch file, the cross sections are all calculated.

Why is this? Surely it is possible to find the cross sections without the need for events?

Cheers,
Jacob

Hi Jacob,

I will be brief. The reason is that when there are decays, the final cs is complicated and determined by the program event_mixer. Event_mixer is only run when there are events requested. Previously, I did not put a switch in to print the final cs if there were no decays. About a month ago, I added this ability. It just hasn't made it to the public version yet. I don't see a way to attach it to this question. If you email me, I will send it to you.

Cheers,
Neil
