trouble running Pythia on .lhe file from CalcHEP

Asked by Stephane Willocq

Hi,

I am trying to process a .lhe file produced by CalcHEP with Pythia (tried both straight Pythia and the interface in MadGraph) but reading of the input file fails. Is there any known issue with .lhe produced by CalcHEP?

Stephane.

Dear Stephane,

I apologize that we did not respond sooner. I just produced a simple pp->tt lhe file using CalcHEP v3.4.cpc and ran it through the latest Pythia 8.176 using examples/main11.cc and it worked fine. I did not see any problems. Are you still having problems? If so, can you please give us more details?

Best wishes,
Neil

HI Dr Neil
i just facing the same problem ..
i am using calchep to genrate four leptons final state from B-L model , when i try to link the out put ".lhe" to madGraph i gave me bug cuz " as in my thought " it needs the .lhe to be unwighted .
so if there is any way to link the calchep .lhe to pythia directly
or any way to unwight it ???????
Cheers
Ahmed

Hi Ahmed,

The events produced by CH are unweighted. But, I am trying to understand better what you are experiencing. Can you attach a small lhe file that you get from CH that has the problem you mention? Does the problem occur for standalone Pythia? Or, just the MG version of Pythia?

Best,
Neil

Hi Ahmed,

Can you also give me the full directions for how you produced the event file? Thanks!

Cheers,
Neil

Dear Stephane and Ahmed,

apologies for the late reply,
could you send us your PYTHIA main program, so we can effectively resolve the problem.

Alternatively, you can try standard main program from my "TOOLS" course. This program
has just few lines -- it reads the generic .lhe file and runs PYTHIA.
Take a look here, please.
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/9mif11zxgl2kpvl/LRNXvlMhGo/pythia/calchep_pythia.f
and in the whole PYTHIA directory within my course:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/9mif11zxgl2kpvl/kMdpdyQUQw/pythia

Please, let us know if this solves your problem.

Cheers,
        Sasha

Hi Dr Sasha
i found that the problem is mine , calc_pyhtia interface just read lhe file .
So , i used pyhtia 8 stand alone to produce hepmc file and to put the ISR , FSR , hadronization "done by pyhtia" to the out put file
thanks
Ahmed

Hi Ahmed,
as I understood the problem is solved,
so could you close it at the launchpad, please?

Can you help with this problem?
