Preview view for a dock

Asked by Ronald Hanke

this is more or less a feature request.

right now there are several views to choose for sub docks. what about adding a "preview" view. it shows the preview window instead of the icon. this would be most interesting for a sub dock to make it easier to make the right selection right away. specially when a lot of instances of the same classes are open (e.g. wine, evolution, evince) this makes it very interesting to see previews instead of another bunch of icons that you have to mouse over to get the previews before selecting the right one.

hope this makes sense.

Hello,

A preview like those that we have when we minimise a window? Yes it's a good idea but not easy if these windows have a dynamical content...
It's not a problem if these windows have a different title or if we use the 'preview' Compiz plugin.

indeed
or maybe instead of a view, a behavior where the Scale plug-in of Compiz is used to display large previews of the windows of a class ?

Sorry, unfortunately I'm not a developer so doing suggestions is the only thing I'm able to.

Showing the preview picture of the compiz plug-in instead of opening another bar containing a bunch of the same looking icons (but with just different titles) would be the perfect solution. This would save a lot of time and of course would be more efficient when changing windows.

Can you help with this problem?
