Caffeine on KDE 5

Asked by Vitor Inaba

Two years ago Caffeine works perfectly on KDE 4.X. But now with KDE 5 caffeine no longer work.

When I run it on terminal, there isn't a debug information, and apparently the bookmark on the information panel doesn't work too.

Someone know a fix to this trouble?

The launcher doesn't work for me in KDE Plasma 5.2.2, but it works if I run /usr/bin/caffeine then /usr/bin/caffeine-indicator.

Try running both to see if it works.

/usr/bin/caffeine && /usr/bin/caffeine-indicator

After starting both I get the indicator and can turn it on and off. On keeps the screen from sleeping.

I just noticed that my lockscreen still appears, although the monitor is still powered on, so perhaps it doesn't completely work.

I had similar issues with KDE5 on other distros. I found if I issue 'caffeine -a' (for activate) to inhibit screensaving/blanking it works, and can be switched off with 'caffeine -d' (for deactivate)

I've not tried it on kubuntu or KDE on ubuntu though.
