Can we please have back the old behavior?
This change is incredibly unhelpful: for example, I want to prevent my screen to go to sleep, as I use its audio HDMI out to listen to music while doing other stuff - no window is full screen or anything like that; similarly, if I watch YouTube videos, they may not necessarily be full-screen.

Point is, this is your code and you're certainly free to mess around with it as you see fit: however this recent change, is a step backwward - I have solved the problem by installing Caffeine 2.5, but that hardly seems the best way to cope.

Ideally, there would be a configuration option, so that each user could choose either behavior.
Thanks in advance for taking this into consideration.

My use case is similar.
I need to stop my computer from sleeping while an application performs an initial (very, very slow) sync.
It has a tiny window!

LoL
If we ever wanted an answer closer to the "we don't give a ..." then we got it, I guess...

For anyone landing on this page because they positively despise the current non-functional behavior, you can install back 2.5 from here:

It really sucks that they disabled the manual application usage. I thought for a long time that the new version was just "broken" and I have kept using version 2.6.2 ever since. Yo and behold, it isn't broken, they just kept me from using it... well, I guess that I will keep the old version until the make the new version as good as the old.... "if it isn't broke, don't fix it!"

"Why would the user ever need to be in control manually? We've CLEARLY thought of every situation in which anyone might want to use the program to disable screensaving!"

Pretty condescending.

Ruins a perfectly good program.

Really fucking stupid.
