can't resetup printer after update. Keeps saying it can't connect to the sever

have a hp 4500 that was working. Then it stopped working. Can not reinstall . Where + is to install a printer is not usable. If i click continue it says can't connect to server. I'm using 16.04LTS. The printer works with another computer.
