Will bzr ever work with MacOS X

Asked by Ulrich Wagner

On MacOS X it isn't possible to add a directory with non ascii characters. It is reported as bug 172383. This bug hasn't been fixed for over a year now, will it ever happen?

And this question hasn't been answered for two weeks now. So it seems, that MacOS X shouldn't be listed as a supported platform.

Your summary isn't quite correct, it is possible to use non-ascii characters, the problem lies in the normalization form, which happens with a subset of Unicode, certainly not all characters.

Do you actually have a problem you encounter, or do you claim that OSX is not a supported platform purely based on the existence of #172383 ?

My previous post wasn't an answer, but a request for more information.

So here are more information:
I live in Germany and so it is not quite ununsual that filenames and directorynames contain characters called "Umlaute". These characters are non-ascii characters.
Yes, I had encountered a problem which I could only solve by switching to Mercurial, because it was absolutly impossible to add a directory with an "ä" in the name to a bazaar repository. This was only my second choice, because coming from subversion bazaar seemed to be more obvious choice, but failed for me.

Yes, we will fix bug 172383 so that unicode filenames work (or work better) on os x. I can't estimate when that will be fixed.

Can you help with this problem?
