What should be the preferred setting for eol for development primarily on Windows (but may be carried on Linux later)?

Is it possible to change this setting at a later stage?

The following is what looks the best to me, but am not sure if this is needed.

eol = native-with-crlf-in-repo

This should be fine. Note that eol settings is not carried with branch, and only can be specified on the local machine. So you need to specify them on each dev machine separately.
