convert branch to lightweight

is there any anyhow to possibility to convert my local branch, binded to another main local branch, into lightweight checkout without ?
i have 2 same branches and want leave only one 1st class branch, and second convert to light checkout.

The easiest way is probably to just make a new checkout with 'checkout --lightweight'.
