The fact that bzr doesn't support this is really a shock to me.

Bzr is slow. It should at least have nice features that faster VCSs have.
File modification times are important information. There is no arguing over it.

If it isn't preserved by default, bzr should provide an option to do so.

Seriously guys, why are we not doing this??
