Transparency in tmux

I'm not sure if it is transparency-related, but MC and MOCP do not look good under tmux whereas they did under screen. Some text is appearing with solid backgrounds and other parts of the screen are transparent. Is there a setting related to this that I need to change?

Unfortunately, tmux does not handle BCE (background color erase) very well

It would be very helpful if you filed a bug against tmux here in Launchpad,
subscribed me to it, and start making a list of programs that don't work
well with tmux and bce.
