byobu-tmux Doesn't Seem to Respect ~/.zshrc

Asked by Randall Degges

Hi there,

I'm currently using byobu-tmux on ubuntu-11.10, here is my version information:

rdegges@x:~$ byobu-tmux -v
byobu version 4.37
tmux 1.5
rdegges@x:~$ grep $USER /etc/passwd
rdegges:x:1000:1000:Randall Degges,,,:/home/rdegges:/usr/bin/zsh
rdegges@x:~$ echo $SHELL
/usr/bin/zsh

As you can see, my default shell is set to zsh, and I'm using byobu v4.37. My problem is that when I run byobu-tmux, it uses zsh, but doesn't seem to load my ~/.zshrc file. Since I use this file to load oh-my-zsh, and some other customizations, this is quite annoying.

Is there something I need to do to get these two working together? byobu looks pretty awesome, and I'd love to use it :)

Does plain 'tmux' work? (ie, without byobu). Also, does byobu-screen
work? (ie, byobu without tmux).

Hi Dustin,

Yes, both tmux as well as byobu-screen work just fine. It's only the byobu-tmux command that doesn't do it for some reason. Weird, eh?

Okay, created a bug report. Will need to do some digging. I don't use zsh.

I was using this on xubuntu with a launcher and it wasn't working. When I changed the command from byobu-launcher to byobu then it worked properly.

Can you help with this problem?
