problem with fonts and icons

Asked by Chriskin

i installed burg, and tried the themes sora and chiva from http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2010/01/make-grub-themes-beautiful-look-nicer.html
while using chiva, i get symbols instead of letters
while using sora , i get symbols instead of letters and the icons are not the ones the theme is supposed to use

it might be something wrong with the instructions there, but since others have followed them without problem, i thought it was worth the trouble to say it here
i also include a picture of what sora looks like on my end, even though the quality of the image is not very good

it is visible though that the icons are wrong, and those thing before the icons are the strange symbols that should be letters

The same thing happened to me. The problem with the fonts is related to the default theme, it must be decompressed in "/boot/grub" is not in "/boot/grub/theme_default".

After unpacking, in Rome should be a folder called "fonts" in addition to others folders with the default themes (ubuntu, proto, minimum and winter).

The problem with the icons still exist, a workaround I found was to rename the folder icons "/boot/grub /sora/icons".

I made a mistake in the previous message, forget the word "Rome" ok. :)
