Thanks for reporting this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

The crash seems to be happening while glib is UTF8izing a filename, and g_utf8_get_charset_internal() makes a call to getenv() -- pretty low-level stuff that indicator-application doesn't have much control over.

My first guess is that there's a configuration issue with your system. It would help us greatly if you could test with 12.04 it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your help.

yeah m using this ... but it seems to be fixed now....

dont know if this is related but.
der was a issue where i would see a white rectangle box about the size of a
webbrowser tab that came up near the top left of screen and wouldn't go
away till i ran the command unity --replace
