Will not support smb:// URLs for now - indeed needs gvfs support, but can
not use that in current library stack. Waiting for move to Gtk 3, once
whole stack is ported to all platforms we support.
However I did check in recently a plugin that allows auto-mounting shares.
So maybe that is useful for you to set up to mount the share on demand ?
