Bug Description

Binary package hint: ppp

I'm using "Fritz! X USB" ISDN hardware from AVM for my internet connection. I configured ppp to use dial-on-demand, which worked flawlessly in Ubuntu Dapper and Ubuntu Edgy. However, it doesn't work in Ubuntu Feisty, even though I'm using exactly the same configuration as in Dapper and Edgy. Please note that I can connect using pppd, only dial-on-demand doesn't work.

My /etc/ppp/peers/provider file looks like this:

sync
noauth
defaultroute
usepeerdns
user ********
plugin capiplugin.so msn *****
number ***
protocol hdlc
/dev/null
192.168.0.1:192.168.0.2
ipcp-accept-local
ipcp-accept-remote
connect 'exit 0'
persist
demand
idle 10
holdoff 10
maxfail 0
active-filter 'outbound and not ((icmp[0] == 3) or (tcp[13] & 5) != 0)'

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I recently switched from an ISDN connection to a DSL connection, so I cannot verify if this bug is fixed in Hardy. However, I do remember that this bug only occured if I installed Feisty from the Live CD. If I installed Feisty from the alternate installer CD, the problem didn't occur. Maybe there were different configuration options on the Live CD as compared to the .deb package? However, I did try to reinstall the .deb package, and that had no effect. I don't remember if I purged the original pppd, though.

Anyway, since nobody else seems to suffer from this problem, and I no longer do either, and there is a known workaround (reinstall from alternate installer CD), and nobody knows if the problem persists in Hardy, I would recommend closing this bug.

Martin
